DIRECTOR OF ROWING
Summary of responsibilities
Overall Management of Rowing Program(s)
Oversight of all activities for the men’s and women’s teams
Serve as both Women’s OW head coach and Director of Rowing
Lead and supervise coaching staff of both teams and provide advisory support
Represent rowing in athletic department and institutional planning
Manage program culture, alignment with college mission, and equity in experience.
Direct Coaching
Develop and implement training plans
Conduct and attend practices
Provide technical and strategic instruction
Determine race lineups and review competition schedules
Foster positive team culture and student-athlete development
Boathouse and Equipment Oversight
Daily management of all rowing facilities, on and off-campus
Track, maintain, and repair rowing shells, oars, motorboats, ergs, and associated equipment
Maintain insurance and capital asset inventory
Plan for equipment turnover and large capital purchases
Coordinate fuel, trailer, truck, and launch maintenance
Resolve conflicts and create shared use schedules for the boathouse and training spaces.
Safety Protocols and Risk Management
Make weather-based “go/no-go” decisions
Coordinate comprehensive safety education programs
Ensure USCG and DOT compliance
Maintain emergency action plans (EAP) with Sports Medicine and Administration
Delegate safety responsibilities when absent
