May 18th membership meeting
Updates:
The COVID committee is transitioning to a committee focused on coach + athlete wellbeing. We’re in the VERY early stages of exploring what this group could do and NOTHING is set in stone so if that topic is something that interests you (or, even better, if it’s one you know nothing about), email Kayleigh and Emma.
Reminders:
NO JUNE MEETING! Kayleigh will be in touch as we get closer to July to share the date/time of that month’s call.
The COVID committee is conducting a survey on vaccinations, which you can find here.

Updates:
The board agreed on some baseline social media policies for our Instagram, which are down below. The goal is to promote what our committees are doing and the sport as whole - this includes highlighting lightweight rowing, D3 rowing, new varsity programs, etc. If you have ideas on ways we can do this, reach out to Kayleigh.
Sharing livestreams as we see them posted. The easiest way to ensure that your races are promoted via the @ircacoaches account is to email Kayleigh the link prior to race day.
Sharing poll results. Hopefully you saw the Week 1 polls that the A&P committee released on Wednesday - if not, they’re saved as a highlight. As the committee releases the polls, we’ll share them in a similar format on Wednesday mornings through the end of the season.
Only sharing individual team photos and results from championship regattas. To keep things simple we’ll only share/re-post photos and results from the championship regattas - this includes Sprints, IRAs, Dad Vails, and conference championships like Pac 12s, MARC, NESCAC, etc.
Reminders:
Greg is working with the alumni leaders group to set up our next call, which will tentatively be the week of May 10th-14th. More details to come as we finalize the details. If your alumni who are interested in attending - regardless of whether you have an established alumni group or not - please send Kayleigh their contact info so they can be included in the invite.

Updates:
Greg has been working with the leaders of several alumni and friends groups to coordinate a series of calls to talk through “the basics” of how to start an alumni group, fundraising for your program, increasing and maintaining alumni engagement, etc. and we’ll be hosting that first call on Thursday, March 11th at 1pm. More info to come on that soon.
For those that are into podcasts, check out the two linked below - Greg shared Michael Lewis’s podcast during our recent board meeting and TED’s “How To Be A Better Human” was the one referenced by Nich during the call on Tuesday.
Reminders:
If you have or anticipate having an open position on your staff, please share that information with Tom Siddall to post on the IRCA’s LinkedIn. As we move forward we’ll likely find ways to build this out and make it more robust but for now we think it will be the best place to share stuff without adding more clutter to your inboxes. We encourage you to share information as soon as you’re able to, ideally in advance of it going live when possible. If you know of additional opportunities at camps, with USRowing, etc. feel free to share that with Tom as well.

Updates:
The membership committee has created a LinkedIn group for the IRCA that we encourage everyone to join. Going forward we intend to use this space to share any coaching opportunities that come up, ranging from summer camp jobs to full-time coaching positions. If you haven’t joined LinkedIn or updated your profile in awhile, this is a great time to do so.
“LinkedIn gives you the ability to showcase your profile, expertise, recommendations and connections. Not only is your profile the first professional impression of you when recruiters and employers use LinkedIn to search for candidates but it also demonstrates credibility in your industry and highlights your achievements.” [Sarah Rycraft]
The IRCA calendar has also been updated with future meeting dates through the end of FY21, as well as with the dates of the IRCA Board of Directors meetings. Calendar/Zoom invites will continue to go out the Thurs/Fri prior to the meeting date.
Reminders:
The Legislative Committee created a survey regarding questions that coaches might have surrounding NLI and how it might specifically impact their athletes and/or the sport in general. The committee anticipates hosting a Q&A sometime in the future based on the responses received but feel free to send AC any specific questions you have in the meantime.
